This is an OOC post about Jaime's powers. In some ways they're sort of like a telepath's, so as is only polite I'm throwing this up to let people opt-in for Jaime knowing stuff about them.
First a quick summary: Jaime has this sentient alien weapon system called a Scarab welded to his spine. In addition to being a veritable Swiss army knife of powers (everything from jet packs to energy guns) it has another very important function.
The Scarab is a complex system which is designed to analyze threats, determine the most effective counter-measures, and then produce those counter-measures. Basically it's a Powers and Weaknesses scanning thingy. In canon the Scarab basically spends most of its time figuring out who has what abilities nearby and the best way to fight them.
It's not telepathy in that it can't know what you're thinking, but it can identify someone as a magic user and then identify their weakness as toothpaste or Wednesdays or obscure 80s hair-metal albums. Then it does its best to produce some system to invoke or take advantage of that weakness.
Fortunately for those who don't want Jaime wandering around with modded knowledge of your characters and powers the Scarab has canonical problems with magic. Not that it can't fight it or identify it, but that sometimes strong magic acts as a sort of interference thing. And the island of Fandom? Well, I imagine that can be some pretty strong interference. Additionally the Scarab just recently crashed and rebooted, so there are parts that may be on the fritz. So on or off the island there are plenty of ways to make sure Jaime can't scan you.
