Orla, Texas, Early Saturday Afternoon

Dinah and Jaime had gotten up early, and Dinah had helped walk Jaime through an actual plan for investigation. Which was much better than his "plan" of going back out to Orla and "trying to find something helpful".

So they were back out in the desert, driving old, mostly abandoned roads. Jaime didn't have much to say, and Dinah seemed willing to let him think. So the silence drew out between them until they finally arrived. "There's Mrs. Wilson's car," Jaime said as he pulled in behind it and stopped the car. "I found her phone a couple of dozen feet away, just lying on the ground."

Manhunter twirled her baton, keeping her eye on the newcomer even as she spoke to Dinah. "Fought them before?" she asked, wondering if there were any tricks to it.

"Fae, yes. This particular brand, maybe no." Dinah didn't take her eyes off the guy. "Iron helps. Usually they're tougher, faster, stronger than human. But not smarter. And I've got a few tricks your Black Canary doesn't." She grinned a little. "And well, everything bleeds."

To the Fae she said, "It just seems like too much of a coincidence. And Traci said something would've gotten sucked in when our friend got sucked out."

"And if things actually went according to plan," he kept his arms loose at his side and began concentrating on the moisture in the air around them. "What then? What if my companions and I intended for this exchange in order to remove your friend?"

They hadn't. Unless the friend they were talking about was the legendary Lady Momoko of the Hyper Blossoms (http://anarchist-queen.livejournal.com/60410.html?thread=494842#t494842), which he doubted it since there was no way they would be that lucky. But the bluff was buying him time. Which he needed because there really wasn't a lot of water here.

"Can we hit first and ask questions later?" Manhunter asked. "Because I don't really believe in coincidences, or vague threats."

"Let's examine the issue from up close."

And Dinah grabbed the guy with her telekinesis, pulling him out of the shadows and a lot closer to them.

"-- say, within hitting distance?"

As soon as he felt himself lifted, Tynan made a fist and the moisture in the air finished coming together with a rush, forming solid walls of water around the heads of his opponents.

Or at least some of them.

Dinah choked for a second, then ducked down, out of the reach of the water-bubble, and furiously yanked the guy even closer, toward Jaime. "KICK HIS ASS!"

Actually Tynan had not been aware of the armor. He'd been hanging with some odd fellows (http://www.stuffoflegend.com/Ambar/02Characters/Incarnates/Gobbah/deepone_bw.jpg)lately, you see, so physical differences really didn't register anymore when your cousin looks like half a shark. The human just hadn't registered as fae.

Tynan pulled the water away from his opponents and to him, wrapping himself in it... hoping to try to exchange himself (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Ninja_Art:_Water_Replacement) for it in whatever magic this was pulling him.

Manhunter was gasping for breath as the water pulled away, but she was definitely scowling. "Water, huh?" She hefted her baton. Time to see just how well this guy dealt with electricity.

Dinah, meanwhile, was drenched again, since the switch with the water-form had left her with a body-weight of water being yanked toward her with a sudden increase of momentum as the density dropped.

"...ugh," she proclaimed. "Sneaky."

[identity profile] theytookourjobs.livejournal.com 2015-04-30 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Escape made from the magic that had been tugging at him, Tynan was now trying to sneak a roundhouse kick at the back of the armored human's head.

[identity profile] theytookourjobs.livejournal.com 2015-04-30 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
He was going to regret not starting with the magic user, wasn't he?

"Seriously," Tynan replied, throwing his weight forward so that he could try to overpower the human, at the same time he added some water to the soil below the feet of his opponent.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2015-04-30 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Right. IF he was going to keep messing around with his form-- better ot mess with the environment, than the actual defender.

Dinah threw a blast of TK at the ground under the Fae's feet, opening up a crack several feet long and several inches wide.

Tynan fell, cursing in a language probably none of them recognized. He hadn't expected them to be able to affect the ground so he had to take a moment to gather himself.
